A great time was had by all at the 6th Annual Alpine Ski Shop Golf Tournament, held June 29th at the River Creek Golf Club in Leesburg, VA. Chris and Tyler Bunch, co-owners of Alpine Ski Shop in Sterling and Fairfax, VA, started the tournament six years ago. “We invite all the industry friends out for a great day on the course, and some bragging rights,” Chris said. “It’s a lot of work, but well worth it. The response we get from everyone is tremendous.”
The event has a great charity tie-in as well. For the first year, profits went to Juvenile Diabetes, and for the past five years, it has been for ALS. “When the event started, we had the proceeds benefit JDRF. I had a bunch of friends whose kids had juvenile diabetes, so it seemed like a great fit. After the second year, I lost a great friend to ALS, so we switched everything over to that charity. We also had a trophy made and named it the Bobby G Cup. This year we raised close to $1500 for this charity,” Chris said.
Tyler added, “Most of the people come out for a fun day on a beautiful course. We had a bunch of reps and other shop managers attend this year.”
The main point of the tournament is to get out and have a great time, and get a chance to get together with other ski and snowboard industry people in the summer, outside of the shops and shows.
All in all it was a super fun day, and everyone left happy!
